3 Drinks That Can Slow The Aging Process (Yes, Really)

Certain kinds of juice could slow the aging process and also help your body as it experiences changes that are age-related. Keep reading to learn more about certain types of juice that could improve your aging process.

1 — Pomegranate juice

Pomegranates contain tons of antioxidants, like polyphenols, that could help decrease inflammation, fight cancers, and reduce blood pressure levels. On top of all of these benefits, pomegranates are also known to have a special effect on the body’s aging cells.

After you reach the age of 50, your cells start having a hard time recycling mitochondria which can directly impact how strong your muscles are. Not only that, but if your body is cannot recycle mitochondria fast enough, they might build up and raise your risk of a serious diseases such as Parkinson’s disease.

Pomegranates have a molecule that is converted be your gut microbiome to something that’s called urolithin A, a compound that could help keep the mitochondrial process healthy. However, it is important to note that some people might have gut flora that isn’t able to convert this compound, which means that pomegranate juice would not have much of an effect.

2 — Carrot juice

Carrots have numerous antioxidants that could benefit your health as you get older. For example, carrots contain a lot of lutein, which is known to support eye and brain health.

Carrots are also rich in another antioxidant that is called beta carotene, which is an antioxidant that your body is able to use to turn into vitamin A. A study released in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention discovered that beta carotene might have the ability to help lower the risk of prostate cancer in younger males.

3 — Beet juice

Some people tend to love it, some people kind of hate it, but beetroot juice is a strong drink that helps slow the aging process.

A study released from Redox Biology has discovered that those who consumed beet juice had increased prominent levels of a specific kind of bacteria that can help with vascular and cognitive health than those who drank the placebo. These participants also saw a drop in blood pressure levels after consuming the beet juice.

These results are because of the higher concentration of nitrates that are found in beets, which can be helpful in helping to keep your blood vessels healthier while also enhancing cognitive function as you get older.
