3 Popular Drinks That Age You Fast

We might not be able to prevent aging, but researchers are now discovering that we can slow it down! They have found that routine habits like not sleeping enough, constant stress, sitting at a computer, and eating processed junk food can actually hasten your body’s aging.

The drinks and foods you consume also can age you faster, but sometimes it might be hard to determine which ones you need to avoid and which ones could actually help.

We spoke to fitness and health experts and got some insight on the popular drinks that you should avoid because they age you faster.

1 — Soda

It is not a secret that sodas are filled with sugar. A 12 ounce coke can has 39 grams of sugar, which is a huge amount for only one drink when you think of the FDA’s recommended amount of drink less than 50 grams of sugar per day.

Even worse, drinks that have lots of sugar and little to no nutrients also usually increase your calorie intake and can lead to you gaining weight over time.

2 — Sweet Tea

Sweet tea is yet another drink that has lots of sugar and almost zero nutrients. Whether you get it from a bottled brand or at a restaurant, consuming this in excess can cause weight gain just like that soda can.

With greater weight gain, you boost your risk for getting chronic health conditions such as heart disease, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and a lot more.

These sorts of illnesses can cause you to age much faster by taking years off your life. According to the CDC, diabetes and heart disease are two of the top causes of death in America.

3 — Fruity Drinks

When we say “fruity drinks,” we are not talking about smoothies or pressed juices made with natural ingredients. The sorts of fruity drinks that can age you quicker are the bottled juices that market themselves like they are healthy but are filled with sugar.

For example, by drinking an 8 ounce serving of Minute Maid Fruit Punch, you will be consuming 22 grams of sugar and a lot of high fructose corn syrup.
