5 Drinks To Shrink Belly Fat After 50

It’s all too easy to focus on the food you’re eating when attempting to reduce weight or achieve another comparable health objective. What about beverages, though? These may frequently go unnoticed, but they can have a significant impact on your efforts to lose weight.

You might be contributing to weight gain if you’re drinking too much sugary beverages like soda, fruit juices with added sugar, or expensive coffee drinks. On the other hand, there are beverages that you may focus on that can help you achieve your weight reduction objectives.

We spoke with a few of our expert dietitians to get their thoughts on the best beverages for losing belly fat, particularly for those over the age of 50. Here is what they had to say.

1 — Water

The first step in any weight loss endeavor is to make sure you’re hydrated and drinking enough water on a daily basis. Water is the best choice for weight reduction and maintenance since it has no calories and is required for all bodily functions, according to Morgyn Clair, MS, RDN, author at Fit Healthy Momma.

Water can be a powerful instrument for enhancing general health and, as such, may help with weight reduction by making you feel fuller between meals. “If you want to reduce abdominal fat, drinking a glass of water before a meal might be useful,” according to Amy Goodson, who is a member of our expert medical board.

2 — Sparkling water

Regular water is required for good health, and it’s an important component of maintaining overall health. Sparkling water, on the other hand, is a fantastic alternative.

“If you don’t fancy sipping plain water or want to cut back on sugary beverages, sparkling water might be a wonderful alternative,” states Goodson. “By keeping food in your stomach for longer periods of time, sparkling water is shown to boost feelings of fullness more than ordinary water. Not to mention, sparkling water quenches your thirst without adding any extra calories.”

3 — Green tea

Green tea may help lower cholesterol, reduce inflammation, improve brain health, increase life expectancy, and aid in weight reduction.

“Green tea is one of the most potentially effective beverages for weight reduction,” claims Goodson. “Green tea contains antioxidants that have some scientific evidence to suggest they may help your body burn fat more effectively. Furthermore, the caffeine found in green tea may help enhance exercise performance by providing a surge of energy, allowing you to work out longer and burn more calories. Drinking matcha, which is a form of green tea that is packed with catechins for greater efficacy.”

4 — Coffee

Coffee, according to a study published in Critical Reviews of Food Science and Nutrition, may help people lose weight and improve their Body Mass Index (BMI).

You don’t need to drink your coffee black in order for it to be healthy, but it’s vital to keep track of how much cream and sugar you add to your cup so that it doesn’t counteract your weight loss efforts.

It’s also essential to consider how your body responds to caffeine since everyone’s sensitivity levels are unique. You might want to think again if you experience more shakiness, anxiety, or nervousness throughout the day after drinking coffee.

5 — Peppermint tea

Some studies have found that peppermint oil and extract may help people lose weight and reduce their appetite, but further study is needed on specific aspects of peppermint tea and weight reduction.

However, peppermint tea before bed, especially if it is used to replace your nightly glass of wine or beer, might help you lose weight by allowing you to sleep, lowering inflammation, and providing no calories.
