This is incredible. 🙌

Rudy Kadlub, a 71-year-old weightlifter from California, has just achieved three new world records in powerlifting. Weighing in at just 222 pounds, Kadlub squatted 430 pounds, bench pressed 303 pounds, and pulled 518 pounds in the deadlift while competing at the Drug-Tested North American Championships held by the United States Powerlifting Association (USPA) in San Diego.

“Good day at USPA Drug-Tested North American Championships in San Diego,” Kadlub wrote on Instagram on Monday, sharing videos of his three lifts. “430 Squat, 303 bench, 518 Deadlift, 1251 total. All World Records @ 71 years of age, 222lb body weight. Now hold all world records at 198, 220 and 242lb. weight classes.”

These were all unprecedented lifts in his weight class, according to the International Powerlifting League (IPL), as was his total lifted weight of 1,251 pounds, which earned him another world record. But this wasn’t his first time at the rodeo: Kadlub began competitive powerlifting 16 years ago, at the age of 55, and has since set more than 20 world records in his weight class.

Kadlub is just one of many older powerlifters who have proven you can continue to kill it at any age. A YouTube video last year captured then-69-year-old lifter Odd Haughen showing off his grip strength, lifting more than World’s Strongest Man Martins Licis and more-than earning his nickname “Vise Grip Viking.”

Other septuagenarians who have dominated the fitness game this year include Josefina Monasterio, 73, who wowed the judges on America’s Got Talent with her bodybuilder poses, and 74-year-old Joan MacDonald, whose fitness account on Instagram has gone viral. Not to mention Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has spent 2020 posting home workout videos to social media at the age of 73.
