Avoid These Breakfast Foods To Drop Pounds (Without Exercise)

Breakfast is still considered the most important meal of the day, especially if you are trying to lose weight. Choosing a breakfast meal that has fiber, protein and very little added sugars is the key for your success throughout your day.

So, when it comes to picking the best breakfast foods to eat, which ones should we choose and which ones should be avoided? Keep reading to find out which foods you should be avoiding losing weight quicker.

1 — Donuts

Breakfast pastries such as donuts are a delicious option in the morning time, but these will hinder your weight loss goals for many reasons.

“It is not just the calories that help make these pastries a bad choice for your weight loss goals, but they also might contain a lot of added sugars, unhealthy fats (many of which derive from deep frying them), and small amounts of fiber, which can leave you feeling unsatisfied,” said Christine Milmine. Fiber could help you feel fuller for longer, helping you prevent overeating that can derail your weight loss efforts.

2 — Yogurt with added sugar

Many different kinds of flavored yogurt you could find at the store has high amounts of added sugars, and beginning your day eating this, without fiber and protein, can slow your weight loss.

“A better idea would be to buy plain yogurt and add unsweetened dried fruit or fresh fruit. If you want more sweetness, you can drizzle a little honey over top, which would most likely be less sugar than some packaged yogurts,” said Jinan Banna.

3 — Muffins

An important part of a breakfast that could help you lose weight is a balance between fiber, protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. So, when you eat a quick breakfast pastry like a muffin, you are not giving your body enough of the nutrients that it should be getting in the morning.

“Muffins are normally high in refined flour, calories and sugar with a low amount of protein which won’t keep you full on its own,” said Hannah Byrne, “and with this type of food not being filling, it will cause you to want to snack more throughout your day, making it harder for obtaining your weight loss goals.”

4 — Toast with butter

“Toast is great to add with other breakfast food, but by itself is not very filling and is also low in fiber and protein, depending on which bread you pick,” said Byrne, “and just like muffins, not consuming a filling food could cause you to snack even more throughout your morning and afternoon.”
