Troy Aikman Reveals How He Stays Fit At 55

Troy Aikman, who was a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys before retiring in 2011, isn’t taking it easy since his retirement. The 55-year-old has recently discussed his gym and refrigerator regimen with us.

The first point of call is the gym. Dumbbells are very important to Aikman. He does cardio about 5-6 days a week, as well as weight training 4 days a week. For the last 15 years, it has been his normal routine. He claims it has helped him get rid of his lower back pain, which was the main reason that he retired from football in 2001.

Now, let’s take a look at the refrigerator. Aikman claims that he has a chef come over to his house to meal prepare for him a couple of times each week. That is quite fortunate. In addition to all of his meals, Aikman has revealed that he drinks a great deal of water, and it is all owing to Tom Brady. During a production meeting, three years ago, Brady entered the room with a gallon jar of water and Troy Aikman decided to follow suit from the current quarterback for Tampa Bay by carrying his own container. Aikman is not sure how much he consumes in one day; however, he is always armed with his gallon jar where ever he goes.

“Sometimes it is a little much to take this into restaurants and everywhere else I go,” he remarks, “but I quickly lose track and stop thinking about it when I am drinking from the bottle of water.”

The refrigerator has protein and vegetables, as well as some beer, including Aikman’s own line of beer, EIGHT, for when Aikman wants to unwind. When it comes to cheating, Aikman confesses that he doesn’t do it very often, but if he does, he’ll order a pizza or sneak an oatmeal cookie.

Some people will have a one-day-a-week cheating meal, while I only have one about every two or three months,” says Aikman.

Talk about having serious discipline.
