Why You Should Never Sleep Naked (Warning: Disturbing)

When it comes to what we each of us decide to wear when we climb into the warmth of our bed, everyone has their own personal preferences. Some people enjoy sleeping in small jammies, others simply use on an old T-shirt and loose underwear, while some people will just go with it and sleep naked.

There have been some small studies which seem to have found all sorts of benefits to sleeping in the buff, including how you can get to sleep much faster, lower your stress, get healthier skin, and improve your overall sleep quality. And during an especially hot night, it is understandable that you would want to forgo your normal sleepwear or even your underwear to get as much air onto your skin as you can.

But according to a doctor and surgeon, who is also a YouTuber, Dr. Anthony Youn, there are some pretty compelling scientific reasons for why you should keep your undies on at night. This all comes down to two disgusting words: poop particles.

“The average human passes gas around 15 to 25 times per day, and this can happen while you are sleeping,” says Youn in his short Youtube video. “And scientific research has proven that every time you do pass gas, you are spraying around some amount of fecal matter. This is true, even if it is not something you feel is a “shart.” And this same exact study revealed that your tighty-whities can catch all of these disgusting particles. So for the sake of your skin and your bed partner, please keep your underwear on.”

And when it comes to getting a good night’s rest, doctors recommend you try a few things. First, never eat a meal within three hours of going to sleep. Second, always sleep in a dark room with all lights being shut off (even small LEDs from computers or TVs). And third, always sleep in a cool room around 65 degree farenheight. If you need an extra boost to get your room cold, try a window air conditioner which you can leave off during the day.
