Studies have revealed that 25.6% of people are physically inactive, and 31.3% of adults are overweight. Limiting your diet can quickly cut down on your weight. Starting a new exercise routine can also help. But as many people quickly find out, exercise and dieting on an ongoing basis is not as easy as it seems. For dieting, hunger often gets in the way to make your goals harder.
So it’s time to get smart and deal with that hunger using the five tricks below to help you fight away cravings and accelerate your weight-loss.
1. Find a better snack
Remove super processed foods that are loaded with sugar and fat. Instead of leftovers or icecream, try something like a higher-fiber cereal with low-fat milk and very spicy salsa.
2. More water
Your body can misunderstand thirst for hunger; so if you are dehydrated, that can make you feel hungry. Drinking more water (especially right before a meal) fills your stomach up, so you are likely to consume less food. Need some flavor in your water? Go for unsweetened green tea, which has lots of EGCC, an antioxidant that aids your body in burning fat faster.
3. Mint
Chewing on mint gum or brushing your teeth with mint toothpaste is a weird but effective way to deal with hunger. The mint tells your brain that it is time to stop eating. It also changes your taste buds, so second servings aren’t as tasty.
4. Try a cleanse or fast
There is a lot of debate about their effectiveness, but most experts do believe they can somewhat jump-start your weight loss and aid your body’s processing of nutrients. They can also ‘reset’ your taste buds so you are better appreciate real foods.
5. Hot sauce
By consuming more hot sauce, you will eat slower and possibly less food because the heat will slow you down. Some research says you could even help speed up your metabolism due to the compounds in hot sauce.
