The Worst Mistake That Could Lead To Dementia

There are several compelling reasons to take vitamin C on a daily basis, as well as vitamin D’s ability to improve the health of your body, but there’s now an even more compelling reason to include vitamin B9 (folate) to the list of vitamins you should consume on a regular basis.

That’s because a study published in the Evidence-Based Mental Health journal has revealed that not getting adequate vitamin B9 might be an eating habit that leads to dementia.

Researchers discovered that people who were deficient in folate were “68 percent more likely to be diagnosed with dementia” when examining medical records from over 27,000 people ranging in age from 60 to 75.

“Folate appears to have an impact on cognitive performance,” Lisa Young, Ph.D., RDN, a member of the ETNT medical review board, stated. “It’s essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system and also in elderly people who don’t consume enough folate, a deficit may contribute to accelerated brain aging and raise dementia risk.”

Dr. Young adds, “However, too much folate might hide a B12 deficit, so if you have a propensity for one, it’s important to let your doctor know if you’re taking folate supplements.” Furthermore, Young comments that “it’s readily available in food; so it’s simple to get enough of it.”

Indeed, according to Dr. Young, “It’s abundant in vegetables and fruits as well as legumes/beans, broccoli, lettuce, chickpeas, and asparagus. Its name comes from foliage (folate). Furthermore, the bread supply (flour and wheat bread) is also supplemented with folate.”

Dementia is a humiliated and terrible disease but you can certainly lower your risks of catching it. Dementia is the general term for losing memory, not being able to produce skilled language patterns, problem-solving and other brain and thinking abilities that are severe enough to harm your daily life. Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia.

The average life expectancy for people with most forms of dementia are: Alzheimer’s disease – about eight to 10 years. Life expectancy is lower if the person is gets the disease in their 80s or 90s. A few people with Alzheimer’s love sometimes for longer times, even up to 20 years.
